The shadow cast across the picture is what makes this compelling for me. The shadow speaks of the darkness of a soul. Yet also the contemplative and receptive side of one's nature. I ask questions: "Who is this? Why is the shadow turned away from the sunny flower?" A great implicit narrative in a photograph.
Thank you Peter for your comment. When i saw this "flower in the crack" on the bridge during my walk in Boston, i had the urge to capture it. So small, insignificant creature with incredible strive to live; and yet unnoticeable to the human eye.
